There are three variants of Apple’s recently issued smartphone, the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and iPhone X. What’s the difference between the three? Listen below is extracted from various sources.
Design
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus brings aluminum frame and rear casing material from the glass. Color options provided include silver, space gray and gold.
iPhone 8 is smaller and lighter. Dimensions 38.4 x 67.3 x 7.3 mm with a weight of 148 grams. The iPhone 8 Plus is larger and certainly more severe. Dimensions are 158.4 x 78.1 x 7.5 mm and weighs 202 grams.
iPhone X the back of glass but the frame of stainless steel surgical grade. It only has two colors, silver and space gray. Dimensions iPhone X 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7 mm weighing 174 grams.
All three models have Lightning ports on the bottom and speakers, the power button on the right, the volume on the left and no one has 3.5 mm for headphones. iPhone 8 has a single camera lens, while iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X camera double. The difference, dual camera iPhone 8 Plus horizontal and iPhone X vertical.
By design, iPhone 8 and 8 Plus a bit like iPhone 7 and 7 Plus and still carry TouchID. While iPhone X full screen and remove the TouchID, replaced FaceID.
Screen
iPhone 8 screen 4.7 inch LED-backlit Retina HD resolution of 1.334 x 750 pixels with 326ppi pixel density. iPhone 8 Plus spans 5.5 inch LED-backlit Retina HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with 401ppi pixel density.
iPhone X the largest screen, 5.8 inch OLED resolution 2,436 x 1,125 pixels with pixel keperatan 458ppi. Make it look the brightest and sharpest.
All three embedded True Tone technology that can adjust the brightness and 3D Touch. iPhone X compatible HDR and Dolby Vision, which are not owned by iPhone 8 and 8 Plus.
Camera
iPhone 8 has a single 12 megapixel camera aperture f / 1.8, OIS and 5x digital zoom. Then the iPhone 8 Plus rear camera double with horizontal format, both 12 megapixels. There is a wide angle aperture sensor f / 1.8 and f / 2.8 aperture telephoto sensor. Included OIS and optical zoom and digital zoom up to 10x.
iPhone X both cameras double with vertical format. The specs are more or less the same as the iPhone 8 Plus double camera but there are advantages of dual OIS.
All three have a flash called Quad-LED True Tone. Front camera iPhone 8 and 8 Plus 7 megapixel with f / 2.2 aperture. iPhone X is also the same in spek, but there are advantages can recognize faces for FaceID.
All variants can record 4K video up to 60fps and slow motion up to 240fps. While the front camera can record up to 1080p resolution.
Hardware and Software
All models powered by brand-new processor dubbed A11 Bionic plus M11 companion processor. No information about RAM, but reportedly iPhone 8 2 GB then iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X 3 GB.
All three internal memory options are 64 GB and 256 GB. All of them also carry the capability of wireless recharge and fast charging. The battery capacity has not been announced.
From the software side, all three run iOS 11. There are several advantages of iPhone X such as FaceID and Animojis feature. But in general, all three offer identical user experience.
Price
iPhone 8 is the cheapest among the three, with prices starting at USD 699 for 64 GB version. Followed the iPhone 8 Plus where the official start of USD 799. And not surprising that the most expensive is the iPhone X, sold from USD 999.
